Interesting that this time around, 58% of the money is coming from you and me, whereas in the supposedly much more exciting 2008, the
number was 38%. Maybe this is just the result of the smaller pie, but its nice to know that the under $200 crowd is more reliable than the big donors. We don't buy influence, we just back our guy and hope he can keep the forces of darkness at bay. A lot of us who voted for him - and worked for his campaign - feel really let down. Where to begin? He said we'd get a public option - instead, we got the "mandate" which will fine people who couldn't afford health care to begin with. It's virtually the OPPOSITE of what he promised. Could Romney himself done any better, at forcing an purely evil mandate on people that goes entirely into the pockets of the greedy, for-proft insurance giants? He said he believed that marriage was between one man and one woman, and than has done everything humanly possible to encourage gay marriage, including refusing to defend DOMA. In the face of the economic crisis - caused by the big banks and Goldman Sachs - he appointed Tim Geitner. His advisors are a jampacked bunch of former Goldman Sachs people. I took a chance on him, a virtually unknown Junior Senator with only 2 years under his belt (over much more experienced Senator Clinton), because he was new and smart and charming and a great speaker. I didn't know I was going to be stabbed in the back. I don't think I can vote for him again. If the people of this country are willing to give full control of Washington to the GOP; then the populace gets the government they deserve. One would think people would have been able to connect the dots repeal of Gless-Steagall, two wars, unfunded Medicare Prescription, deep tax cuts, etc. would have sent a message about poor GOP stewardship. Unfortunately, the Democrats were doing their own poor job of stewardship for anyone to notice,. For it was Bill Clinton who repealed Glsss-Steagall and sent in motion the eventual Great Recession. Why bother with multi-zillion dollar elections, just give them the money and surrender civilized society as we've known it. Until and if ever, an extremely ignorant electorate wakes up, this is what's coming. So, come November, we get to choose the better of two evils. And , watch as a Congress with less than a 10% approval rating is returned to the current GOP majority. And, a possible switch of the White House to the same party majority. With an already, GOP dominant Supreme Court. Come November, we could see a great victory for the oligarchs. And see implemented an agenda that will tear apart the very fabric of this country, relegating millions to the poorest strata of society. And what we will have is every man, and woman, for themselves. So so called "greatest country in the world" will become a footnote, just like the Roman republic and Athenian Democracy. One positive note, at least we have a long way to go to reach the level of North Korea or Weimer Republic Germany. |
